going literary

It's not often that I get the chance to try my skills at a literary translation – but when I do, I embrace the challenge. So, when Makunouchi Bento approached me to translate a short piece of prose accompanying their album "Stray Beads", I eagerly said yes. The original text was written in Romanian and they needed an English translation of it.

Makunouchi Bento is a prolific electroacoustic music duo from Timișoara, whose founders eschew a precise genre classification of their many releases, instead describing their music as "experimental" and "cinematic".
